Hines Ward Busted for DUI

Quote:

Jul 9, 2011 - Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested for driving under the influence in DeKalb County, Ga. early Saturday morning, TMZ reports. Ward posted his $1,000 bond and was released.

Ward's career has been marked by reliable excellence and occasionally dirty play on the field, but the Super Bowl XL MVP's reputation off the field has been nothing but gold. Ward is the reigning champion of ABC's Dancing With the Stars, and has been so active in the mixed-race community (Ward is half-black, half-Korean) that he was named to the President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders by Barack Obama in 2010.

It is unclear what punishment or suspension Ward might face from the NFL or the Steelers, given the current NFL lockout. The last player of Ward's caliber cited for DUI was Braylon Edwards in September 2010; Edwards missed part of the New York Jets' next game as a result of the arrest.
This lockout needs to end soon to keep these guys out of trouble

wow.....i'm not a big fan, but this is out of character for him, is it not?

and the lockout makes no sense to me.... all about more money right?
as if sports guys dont make enough... pfftt

Define character;
Is this one of his first times getting into trouble off the field? Yes

Is he an asshole who talks alot of shit and gets away with alot on the field? Yes

As far as the lockout, I'm sick of a bunch of millionaires and billionaires getting into a pissing match. I'm giving them another week before I do an economic boycott this season when they decide to come back

Drunk driving is not cool in any situation. I dont' think these guys should be coddled either.

Saint Dagame 07-09-2011 08:16 AM

There's no excuse for it especially when you've got enough money to hire a driver.

on the field doesnt concern me... i could care less what he does or says there. i watch very little NFL..

and i agree about the lockout. basically same as the baseball strike right?

Mystycl 07-09-2011 08:20 AM

no excuse for drunk driving, money or no money.

It's somewhat different issues but in the end it boils down to someone making a conservative avg of $770k a year wanting more money.

Mystycl 07-09-2011 08:38 AM

right.
see, thats bullshit...

19wingz 07-09-2011 08:50 AM

Dude couldn't get a limo or even a friggin Lincoln Town Car driver?

Yellowdog 07-09-2011 09:49 AM

The guy is hardly a bad guy now because he had one DUI. If you ever drink and you ever drive, the chances are you drove when you are legally drunk. Let's be honest. Just about anybody could get arrested for such a thing. Now if you do it twice or if you're so drunk that you run over a bunch of people, then that's a different story.

Mystycl 07-09-2011 10:05 AM

i agree, BUT with his money, he could have taken a cab... ya know?

KaysarRocks 07-09-2011 11:07 AM

It's not a good thing, period. I'd hope for his sake he doesn't do it again and does like mys says.......take a cab.

Yellowdog 07-09-2011 04:50 PM

Never mind. It's not worth it.
