But per updated tallies (21.0/37), it instead represents the best for a non-U.S. Summer Olympics ever, and the second-best rating/share for a non-U.S. Games in 36 years (since Innsbruck, 1976).

I do want to know why us US viewers couldn't see the 7/7 tribute during the ceremonies? I think that would have been cool for us to see and I also think that it was kind of low for NBC to cut it.

I've heard a lot of people in the Facebook world who didn't like it (but...I tend to think I have crappy friends!

lol) I loved it! It was unique and originial. Definitely a production! The beginning was freaking awesome with the industrial stuff and the rings meeting, and the guy with the top hat and the cigar! Superb show!

There were many people who didn't like it, including me. But I admit that's not my type of thing. Anybody who likes that kind of extravaganza would have liked it, I'm sure. But to me it's just boring and overblown.

But over produced is what an opening ceremony is. Plus, you have to make it for the people who are there first and then for the TV audience. I think if you watched it on TV, it might not be as extravagant, but I thought it was fun, until the parade of nations which I always find boring after a few countries.

That's what I'm saying. If you like that overblown stuff then you'll love it. But if you don't, like me, then you won't. It's just a matter of taste.
