Really NBC Olympic Coverage

HATE IT. So here on the West Coast, I don't get to see any of the big events until "prime-time" which is crap. I have to wait until the evening to see all the things that happened for the day, let alone see it 3 hours after it has aired in the east.

Plus, take gymnastics for instance... They aren't showing on TV other teams (unless of course the U.S. is sucking) and I would like to see all of them.

So I decide to try my luck at the NBC website to see what they tout as their "live coverage"... well, the one I wanted to see already happened apparently (not to mention having to sift through spoilers to find it) and is their video for it? Of course not. I guess they need to save it for prime time.

I'm sorry but this is crap. I wouldn't be looking for the video if I wanted to know what happened before I saw it. Why would they have the Olympic "news" and the live events/video all on the same pages?

And why can't they just be on air when they happen rather than having to hold them until prime time? And lord knows, don't turn on NBC news before prime time because the anchors are spoiling crap too.

I am really not liking this.

I agree, I've really felt that the coverage sucks. I've always enjoyed watching the Olympics but I've noticed a lot of what you describe up there plus they rarely show you scores and leaderboards and stuff. I think I recall having to avoid "spoilers" from Beijing last year and the events being played out later, sometimes I'm thankful for that. I can't exactly watch and enjoy them live but I to want to see the gymnasts from the other countries and the divers and all of them!

...and while I'm already bitching...

So last night in prime time they show the mens team finals in Gymnastics. They decided we didn't need to see U.S. (Not that they were doing well) on High Bar or Rings. We saw floor, horse and parallel. Once we started sucking and were out of it, they show us other teams on a few things here and there, like highlights.

Why can't one of their stupid channels show us, at least, all the competition on the different apparatus? Why do we only focus on a few apparatus and only the U.S. really when we are doing well?

Hate.

Can someone tell me, without giving me spoilers, what men are swimming the 4x200 freestyle relay for the U.S.? After the semi's today, they didn't know yet... and I don't want to go looking for the info for fear I will see results. I just wanna know the make up of the team.

I thought the prime-time coverage was going to suck when I kept hearing announcers talk over the Opening Ceremony performances. I don't need Matt Lauer and Meredith Viera (sp?) telling me that guys dressed as Sgt. Pepper's Band are examples of British culture. and I can I can recognize a Mary Poppins army when I see it, n need for commentary, thanks.

I knew it was going to suck when I saw Seacrest introduce a Phelps puff piece.
No, not that kind of puffing.

Kudos to all of you that enjoy the men's swimming events and the paegantr that's been drummed up by the media about it, but me, I couldn't enjoy Phelps vs. Lochte even if was done Thunderdome style.

As for live coverage. Only event I wanted to watch today as it aired live was, as some of you would guess, U.S. versus. North Korea - Women's Soccer.
Did that air on NBC or MSNBC? Nope, the latter showed France vs. Colombia, I think, and the matchup I wanted was only shown on "premium channels".

So yeah, not a big fan of the coverage. But if Tom Jones recovers from bronchitis and performing at the Closing Ceremonies, all is forgiven.

Yes, I will tell you.
Ryan Lochte, Conor Dwyer, Ricky Berens, and Phelps.

Also, this is just fucking ridiculous. I agree with you. It's a terrible way to cover the Olympics. Did you all see what they did last night? They showed a Today show ad touting Missy Franklin's win yesterday BEFORE the damn primetime coverage showed it. How dumb.

I am so fucking sick of NBC having the Olympics on lockdown. This is getting absolutely ridiculous. How many commercials were necessary to spread out this gymnastics event? And then toss in a little "Men's Basketball". Anyone who was watching tonight was watching for the gymnastics event.

I noticed that too Wingz, and I was pissed.

They need to figure this shit out before Sochi in 2014, because I'm getting really tired of this bullshit.

What? They showed Men's USA Bball during primetime tonight? I gave up and went to my room - getting ready to sleep - but why show that when it was on TV just hours ago?!?!
