Thursday night just before 7:00 p.m. Decatur officer responded to a call from Rolando MClain, the NFL Oakland Raiders and former Alabama football player, of shots being fired at his vehicle.
Officers responded to shots fired call earlier at Second Street S.W. and Memorial Drive, but couldn't find a victim. McClain met officers at 6th Avenue SW and told them that as he was driving a group of people who were standing on the corner of 2nd Street and 8th Avenue started shooting at his vehicle. Police noticed where one round struck the rear hatch of McClain's Chevrolet Tahoe. The bullet did not penetrate the passenger compartment. Detectives and Crime Scene investigators were called to McClain's vehicle to process the SUV and remove the bullet. The passengers in McClain's vehicle were interviewed. Decatur Police Department is investigating this case. Anyone with information is asked to call Decatur Police at 256-341-4660. Persons with information can remain anonymous.
