Carrie Underwood: 10 Years Later
We have a thread dedicated to Kelly's 10 year anniversary from winning Idol and we are creeping up on Carrie's 10 year victory anniversary. You can guarantee I'll be posting more when that day arrives. Until then, I am obsessing over DJ Earworm's mash-up of Carrie's Greatest Hits. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first solo artist mash-up he has done. I'm only familiar of his stuff when he does end of year mash-ups. LOVE THIS.

Memorial Day (May 25) was her 10 year anniversary of winning!! Too busy hanging out with friends. I couldn't get to post. I bet you were all so saddened.

New single released today. Album, "Storyteller," drops Oct 23. As you can imagine, I'm GLEEFUL right now!!!!
Different sound for her. I LOVE the album title. I think this single is a little country rock but focuses on telling a story and using the "Drinking" theme in a different way than it is being used on radio today. Probably isn't my favorite song in her repertoire, but I love it and I'm so ready to see what Album #5 brings!!

It is more rock-ish, yes. She did say she was going to have a different sound for this album. Not sure if that means the whole album will be as such or what? What I still do appreciate is that she's trying to keep the storytelling the focus. Hence, the album name. I can't wait to see how much she holds to that for the album. This song has really grown on me - from the 2 characters to just needing a "smoke break" from my life, these days.

I'm not huge on the song, but I like that she is taking a semi risk while still sticking with story based lyrics.
Although not in the same vein, I think Smoke Break sounds like the perfect natural evolution from 'Something Bad." The album cover for the single is great! That outfit rocks!! She's got a wicked early years Wynonna Judd meets early years Trisha Yearwood look going on. Digging it.
